I've finally got everything I need to do appliqued embroidery!! It's totally ok, you can think I'm an old lady. I mean I do have the hobby of a 90 year old. Anyway, I was a little hesitant because I'm really good at over analyzing anything and I kept thinking how I was going to screw it up.

Thankfully they have free designs you can try before you buy.

Turns out, it's pretty simple. Lucky me! My bank account is not so lucky. The website I found that had the best (cutest) designs just so happened to be having a sale.. A 70% off SALE. Yea, let me tell you how excited I got!! I bought $30 worth of designs and lettering. Should have cost me closer to $100.


Now, all I have to do is make my list (and actually follow it) of everything I wanted to do. I'm actually pretty good at list making, it's the following part I'm not so hot at. I do, however, have helpers. And by helpers I mean a dog who needs a chill pill and a cat who just harasses him. This is them during their down time. Otherwise they would be moving so fast the photos would be blurry. Around this house if you aren't careful you'll catch a claw in the leg as you walk by.

I call them the White Devils.. their name is really self explanatory.

Inability to Follow

directions, that is.. You see there are many things I have trouble doing, but following a pattern(and directions) is at the top of my list. I simply cannot do it! I always find something to change or tweak and then in the end it becomes my own little thing and frankly I'm okay with that.

I made a strap cover for my camera several years ago. I have used it, abused it, and of course never washed it. It spent a lot of it's time being used outside on a farm, hence the filthy part. Now, I could have just washed it and went on with my day. But, no.. I felt it was time for a change.


Yep, I added ruffles! Feel free to judge me, I know it's completely out of the norm for me. Oh my, what is this world coming to that I am carrying something that professes all that is girly.


Actually, I really like it! AND.. I can now embroider/monogram/stitch the world because we ( and by we I mean mom) are now the owners of our very own corruption machine, oh I mean Embroidery machine. You see, this was a long time coming and I have the urge to put names on pretty much everything in sight.

The only problem, I have to take a trip all the way back to College Station to have a small lesson in software usage. We purchased additional software with the whole deal and of course it won't work right. Duh! Would things ever go as planned, no.

Hokie, Baby

This is the third VT baby blanket I've done. The first one was created because of my good friend Laura from Tennessee. Virginia Tech is her Alma mater, so it was only fitting that when her friends started having babies, they each received a one as a gift!

I can't say that I am a VT fan, mainly because I wasn't raised around it, nor did I attend. I'm a Bearkat... ya that's right! That's my Alma mater, I admitted to it. Moving on, each of the 3 blankies, as Laura refers to them, have been different,but the same. All have similar fabrics, some of which are exactly the same and the backing was always done in chocolate brown minkee.

This picture is of the first VT blankie I made last year. It's obviously used! The VT logo on the previous 2 where done in felt and stitched the the lower corner on the front. I like using felt because it seems to hold up wash after wash, especially with items like this that tend to be loved to the max!! The latest blankie's VT logo was done in chenille because I thought it was much more girly than the felt. You see, evidently people are going back to the whole old school way of thinking.. as in not finding out what they are having! This drives in crazy and makes things so difficult to be creative!! But thankfully I was informed ahead of time with this one!

All the mommies are friends and sisters and now their babies all have a little something in common! From what I understand, these spread like wildfire in the Hokie community!

Starting Over... For the Last Time

This is my attempt at starting over. For almost 2 years I kept up my previous blog and the same with it's matching Etsy shop. With everything that has happened in the last year, (yes I mean year to the day.. almost) I feel it is only right to start over. I've missed this, sewing, selling, and everything that goes along with it. I have a very creative nature and my head has been spinning with new ideas and projects. The only problem is that I have had a little trouble focusing, but that's all about to change. It. has. to.

Let's be honest, I've missed Texas since I've been gone. If you want to be specific it's been over 4 years. Not only have I missed Texas, but I've missed everything that is TEXAS. People here are just plain fantastic!! Since I've been home I have realized that my family and friends will always support me, no matter the idiotic decisions I make. hint, hint, wink, wink. I'm looking forward to the next couple of months and can only hope it keeps me busy enough. I'm considering this time my trial/rest period.

There are a handful of people I can thank for pushing (forcing) me to get back into the swing of things and make.sew.sell the things I once did. I have several orders as we speak and am working on lots of new items. It's nice to have a niece and nephew to test them on! Not to mention friends with babies! They will soon be forced into peddling my wares, not by me, but by their mothers.

This blog will surely consist of not only sewing and crafting, but the Twerps, friends, family, things I enjoy, and life as I know it. So, at any rate, this is my attempt at starting over... for the the last! (thank you Randy Rogers Band for creating a song just for this occasion)
